Interested in the UNDERSUN Resistance bands? Trying to find out if they’re worth it? You’ve come to the right place! Time in quarantine during the COVID crises of 2020 gave us the chance to try new home workouts, and we decided to purchase a set of resistance bands to aid in our fitness journey.
In this article, we’re going to review the UNDERSUN Resistance Bands and discuss whether or not they’re worth investing in. You’ll learn our impressions as well as a beginner workout we created for those who need a place to get started. Here we go!
First Impressions
The kit was packaged professionally with the 5 resistance bands, a bag, and some marketing materials (the company has since updated the set to include a door anchor). At first glance, we could tell it was made of high-quality materials, and the bright orange was eye-catching!
The handout it came with wasn’t particularly useful, containing bits of marketing information. We felt example exercises or a quick start guide would have been a better alternative; however, the company does have a lot of free media and exercise videos you can access online.
UNDERSUN Review
The 5 UNDERSUN Resistance Bands range from X-Light to X-Heavy, so your workouts become more about intuition and feeling rather than specific numbers. This can be good or bad depending on how you look at it. We ignored the numbers and focused on pushing ourselves to the max during workouts, but this might not work for people who write down specifics in a workout journal.
One benefit we noticed is that the bands force you to work on your muscle balance and control. This may shock anyone who has never used resistance bands before, and it’s a drastic change for anyone who is used to mainly free weights and machines. When you start using the bands, you realize it’s a completely different beast due to the way they resist against your muscles. It’s a challenge, and that’s what we want in our workouts.
We took our gym routine and adapted it to basic calisthenics and band exercises. The UNDERSUN Fitness Bands allowed us to do several of the same movements we regularly performed on machines in the gym, and varying techniques helped us create fast-paced burnout workouts with supersets and lots of reps.

Chest/Back Workout
We found explosive movements the most effective at wearing down our muscles. In addition, we structured them with supersets (repeated exercises with no rest in between) to create quick, easy workouts. If you’re a beginner, start by trying this basic chest/back routine.
Superset #1 – Pushups (3×20) – Pull-ups (3×20)
This is the warm up for the routine, and it doesn’t require the UNDERSUN Resistance Bands. These two exercises form the foundation of chest and back strength, so they are first in the lineup. Do as many reps as are comfortable while trying to distribute your strength over three sets. If you still have extra strength on the last set, do a burnout (as many quick reps as possible until you feel the burn and fail).
Supserset #2 – Incline pushups (3×20) + Close-grip rows (3×12)
You’ll need a post to wrap the resistance bands around in order to do close-grip rows. We experimented using our feet, a basketball goal, and a pavilion post. The pavilion post worked the best with something to sit on (the floor or a chair). To change it up, you can swap out close-grip rows for a wide-grip variant or lawnmowers.
Superset #3 – Pec flies (3×12) + Lateral pulldowns (3×12)
Both of these exercises require the resistance bands. We performed one-armed pec flies with them wrapped around a pavilion post. For pull-downs, we attached them to a pull-up bar and pulled them from seating on the ground.
Beginner Tips
- Focus on your form – make controlled and even movements, keeping good posture and form. Resistance band workouts are a great opportunity to isolate problems and correct them on a micro level.
- Start heavy and work your way down – use a heavier band than what you feel is necessary and work your way down. Doing this means you won’t wear out the resistance of your lightest bands before you really need them during your workout.
- Look for posts everywhere you go – resistance bands open up the possibility of creative workouts in odd places. Look for interesting places to tie your bands for fun workouts inside or outside the house.
- Be careful wrapping around rough objects – the material, though durable, can tear if wrapped around coarse materials. When you use them, they rub against whatever they are wrapped around, and rough objects are likely to tear them.
The Verdict
Working out with the UNDERSUN Resistance Bands at home was practical and helped us stay in shape during the Louisiana quarantine. We had realistic expectations about what they were capable of, and they did everything we expected them to do with a few slight inconveniences.
In the end, the UNDERSUN Resistance Bands were perfect for our exercise needs and made a great addition to our home workout setup. Even though gyms are open again, they’ll still remain a key part of our exercise plan. We feel these workouts are a great way to supplement your core routine and give yourself a challenge from time to time. They’ll also come in handy when you don’t feel like going to the gym, because they expand the number of movements you can do at home without the need for heavy weights or machinery.
We plan to take them on trips and use them wherever we go for a more fulfilling, fitness-oriented life. If you’re looking for something new to inspire you to get off your feet and working out again, they might be exactly what you need!

Elasticity declines during workouts?

Will this effect my fitness overtime when I use them?
Imagine the differences between new and used rubber bands…resistance bands are no different. They seem to have more resistance at the beginning of workouts, and as you use them, their elasticity/stretchiness declines. It’s not a major complaint, but it’s worth noting.
It probably won’t negatively affect your fitness too much over time. If you use resistance bands regularly, they’ll definitely help you stay in shape, but as is the case with any exercise, your body will eventually get used to your routine. Try to vary your workouts for best results.
