#10 – Library Events Center
Ruston’s Library Events Center hosts a myriad of different events for all to enjoy. There are public movie nights as well as guest speakers who come to share their stories. If you enjoy hanging out in libraries and getting to know your fellow citizens, you’ll love the Library Events Center.
#9 – Sports games
If you’re a fan of sports, you can watch games played by the athletes at Louisiana Tech University throughout the school year. Some include soccer, baseball, and (of course) football by the LA Tech Bulldogs. They ‘bleed blue’ and give any team that comes on their turf a run for their money. Even Ruston High School and Cedar Creek put on some entertaining games that showcase talented up and comers.
#8 – Celebrity Theatres
A trip to the movie theater is always fun when there’s a good movie playing. Celebrity Theatres of Ruston, LA is the place to go if you’re ready to grab some popcorn and watch the latest flicks. It’s a nice little cinema with enough screens to give you plenty of movie options.
#7 – North Louisiana Military Museum
The North Louisiana Military Museum is an excellent location to check out fascinating war memorabilia. You’ll find an array of items that hearken back to various wars our veterans have laid down their lives in. It’s a thought-provoking location that will give you insight into the blood, sweat, and tears ingrained in our nation’s history.
#6 – Squire Creek
This country club is where the elites hang out, and you can try your luck there too. There’s a swimming pool and golf course that give you a place to chill or swing away on the green. With preserved landscapes that stretch out into wooded areas with beautiful homes all around, it’s an excellent place to kick back and relax.
#5 – Ruston Artisans
Art galleries are hit and miss, but not in Ruston, LA. Ruston Artisans is an excellent place to view premium artwork. If you’re not familiar with the artwork produced by members of the city, you can try it out yourself. They offer painting classes which will up your game and get your gears turning. It’s definitely something you don’t want to miss.
#4 – Ruston Farmers Market
Southerners love their famers markets, and Ruston, LA is not stranger to them. The Ruston Farmers Market features a variety of goods including produce, snacks, and trinkets of all kinds. Come hang out with the best of the south at the Ruston Farmers Market.
#3 – Downtown Ruston
Downtown Ruston is the home of the shopping world. Places like Cotton Top Print Shop will give you a taste of southern sweetness, almost like its sweet tea. Visit Downtown Ruston to get all your fabulous goods, and you won’t regret it.
#2 – Mountain biking trails
We’ve spoken a lot about Lincoln Parish Park and their nationally recognized biking trails. They cannot be overlooked in Ruston, and if you want real fun, you’ll need to visit them. These trails are a highlight in Ruston, LA and make this city a place of wonder. If you love mountain biking, you won’t be disappointed.
#1 – Peach Festival
The pinnacle of Ruston culture, the Peach Festival always reigns supreme. So much so that we named the website after it. If you want a real taste of Ruston, make sure to visit the Peach Festival every last weekend of June. It’ll make you want to come back again and again.
So glad you mentioned Ruston Artisans! The gallery has started and artists co-op, which means that in additional to the usual fine quality shows, the co-op artists will have regularly changing exhibits in their spaces in the back room of the gallery. Right now, to accompany the “Birds & Blooms” main exhibit, my co-0p space is dedicated to bird photos. There’s lots to see at Ruston Artisans.
I’ll have to drop by and check out the exhibit sometime!
