Who (or What) is Crimes Against Comedy Improv?
Meet the group
Ruston, LA doesn’t have an official comedy club yet, but that isn’t stopping Crime Against Comedy Improv from bringing comedy gold to Ruston. Their improv show, full of skits and games, will make you double over with laughter and fall right out of your seat.
Founded by Amara Zabolotniy in 2020, the group’s mission is to bring improv-style comedy shows to Lincoln Parish. Her work with Ruston Community Theater has enabled her to connect with the quirky group of actors now known as Crimes Against Comedy Improv. Their current lineup (as of March 1, 2020) consists of Zabolotniy, Amy Bell, Joe Bell, Spencer Foster, Monique Mapes, and Vanna Richardson.
Show details
Crimes Against Comedy Improv’s show is held at Ruston Artisans every last Saturday of the month. They put on two different shows, PG-13 and Adult, which both last between 1-1.5 hrs and conjure gut-wrenching laughs appropriate for each audience. Both shows feature a mix of skits and games fans of Whose Line Is It Anyway? will undoubtedly be familiar with, and witnessing these antics with a live audience is extremely satisfying.
As far as the differences between shows, improvisation means each and every show is guaranteed to feature different skits and jokes. The PG-13 show contains minor language and adult references at times, while the Adult show gives the group a chance to let loose with raw, unfiltered r-rated comedy.
During the set, you’re constantly bombarded with silliness that keeps you rolling. The actors often interact with the crowd, asking for participation and suggestions from willing audience members. It gets so hectic, at times, you’ll wish you were up there on stage horsing around with them. Tickets are $10 each at the door or can be purchased in advance online HERE.
