Downtown Ruston was the hangout spot this Saturday, with Railroad Park set up for a community picnic. Locals who attended the Ruston Farmers’ Market, Blue Sky Yoga classes, and other venues were treated to picnic tables and entertainment in the park from 11AM – 1PM. The weather was perfect for people to get together and re-experience Ruston’s core in a rebooted downtown that’s picking back up after facing Coronavirus-related restrictions.
The picnic was actually scheduled for last Saturday, but stormy weather forced a delay. This was a heartbreaker for us, because we wanted to visit and support the city’s efforts to bring business back downtown. A picnic seemed like a genius idea, yet it had to be postponed. Fortunately, this Saturday was perfect for the event, with 80-degree weather and people looking to take their minds off a tumultuous week of US protests.
When PeachTown was created, its sole purpose was to promote public locations and inspire community members to take advantage of them. We wanted to shift focus from negativity in the world to holistic living. For this reason, the community picnic was right up our ally!
Upon arrival, we grabbed some coffee and walked around the general area. One thing’s for sure…
Those umbrellas are hard to miss! Just look at the pictures. We keep seeing so much orange around town…too bad we can’t put a patent on the color.
The sun’s heat was in full effect at noon, but with the umbrellas, it was the perfect day for a picnic. Overall, it was peaceful downtown, and we had a great time!
